Avoid wearing clothing that could get caught in the equipment. Clean the drain lines with a water jet or drain cleaning machine.

The camera is gently pushed down the drain. Do not force it around corners. Watch the video screen to see if the camera spots an obstruction. If one is seen, do not try to force the camera past it. Bring the camera back up. Many sewer video cameras come with a recording feature, so you can show your plumber just where the obstruction, like a tree root, is. Plumbers can also look at the whole video to check for hairline cracks, sagging pipes, or other early signs of damage to the pipes.
