Generally, the patients who are good candidates for this surgery are between the ages of 18 and 60. In order to qualify for weight loss surgery, generally, a person is going to need to have a BMI of greater than 40 who have not been able to lose weight on their own or a BMI that is greater than 35 who has another comorbid condition that is approved.
